Congestion Charge Increases

Congestion charge for 4x4s rises

Gas-guzzling vehicles such as 4x4 "Chelsea tractors" will have to pay a daily charge of £25 to enter London's congestion charge zone from October.

Owners of 4x4s and some sports cars will see the fee rise from £8 while the cost will be cut for the greenest cars.

Mayor Ken Livingstone said: "Nobody needs to damage the environment by driving a Chelsea tractor in London."

The income generated from said charges will go towards widening and improving pavements and creating safer cycle lanes. I think the public may want the pavements carpetted for that kinda money!!!
